H.E. Olivier Baldauff accredited to Sweden
On 15 October 2026, Luxembourg’s new Ambassador to Sweden, Olivier Baldauff, presented his credentials to His Majesty the King Carl XVI Gustaf during a formal accreditation ceremony in the Throne Room at the Royal Palace. The reception of foreign envoys in Sweden follows an ancient ceremonial protocol and is quite unique in the world, with traditions dating back many centuries. The day brought together new ambassadors from Azerbaijan, Vietnam, and Mauritius, each welcomed individually by His Majesty in the historic surroundings of the Royal Palace in Stockholm.
Luxembourg and Sweden share longstanding historical and cultural ties, strengthened by their commitment to democracy, international cooperation, and the preservation of their rich royal traditions. Both monarchies play an important symbolic role in national life, embodying continuity, public service, and a strong connection to their citizens. The warm relations between the Grand Ducal Family and the Swedish Royal Family, reflected through official visits, diplomatic exchanges, and cultural cooperation, add a special significance to the moment at the Royal Palace in Stockholm. The ceremony thus not only marks the beginning of Ambassador Baldauff’s mission but also highlights the enduring friendship between the two royal families and the nations they represent.
With his mission now formally underway, Ambassador Baldauff looks forward to strengthening Luxembourg’s engagement in Sweden and deepening cooperation across culture, politics, society, and the broader Nordic region. His work will focus on fostering bilateral ties, supporting Luxembourgish cultural visibility, and advancing collaboration in areas of shared interest.
