Celebrating Luxembourg’s National Day and 120 Years of Luxembourg–Denmark Relations
On 4 June, the Embassy hosted a reception to celebrate the 120th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Luxembourg and Denmark. As this milestone falls in the same month as Luxembourg’s National Day on 23 June, the Embassy brought both occasions together, marking the anniversary while also honoring Luxembourg’s upcoming National Day.
The event also provided an opportunity to bid farewell to Ambassador Henri Schumacher as he concludes his mandate in Copenhagen. In his remarks, Ambassador Schumacher expressed his appreciation for the close cooperation with Nordic partners and the valuable exchanges that have strengthened Luxembourg’s engagement in Scandinavia.
As part of the celebration, guests were invited to explore a capsule exhibition by the Luxembourgish‑German design duo Geckeler‑Michels. Designer Frank Michels attended the event and presented selected works, offering insights into the studio’s contemporary design approach and the intersections between Danish and Luxembourgish design perspectives.
The reception also featured a selection of traditional Luxembourgish food and drinks, including artisanal chocolates from Genaveh and beer from Battin, giving guests a taste of the country’s gastronomic heritage.
The Embassy extends its sincere thanks to all guests who joined in celebrating Luxembourg’s National Day and the 120 years of friendship between Luxembourg and Denmark, and for contributing to an engaging and memorable day.
