Opening Conference on AI for the “Mois de La Francophonie” 2026 in Copenhagen

On the 4th of March 2026, the Embassy of Luxembourg, together with the Institut français du Danemark and the Group of Francophone Ambassadors (GAAF), launched the Month of La Francophonie at the University of Copenhagen with a conference by French writer and Goncourt laureate Hervé Le Tellier.

In his opening remarks, the Ambassador of Luxembourg highlighted the importance of linguistic diversity, the role of Francophonie in today’s multilateral world, and this year’s chosen theme: artificial intelligence. He underlined the need for ethical, human‑centered technological development and for the representation of all languages and cultures in the digital sphere – a field in which the Francophonie has a key role to play.

Hervé Le Tellier then spoke about AI, creativity, and the relationship between science and literature. In his very rich intervention, he also echoed fears typically associated with singularity thinking, particularly regarding an irreversible shift where AI overtakes human creative production.

The event concluded with a convivial cultural buffet, offering space for informal conversations and exchange between participants. Embassies from Albania, Belgium, Canada, France, Greece, Luxembourg, Mexico, and Switzerland were represented. Luxembourg contributed several traditional specialties, including Verwurrelter, pâté, Stollen, mini bouchée à la reine, and cheese quiche.

This opening event illustrated the richness of cultural, culinary, linguistic, and human encounters that characterise the Francophonie; and set the tone for a month dedicated to dialogue, diversity, and shared values.
