Corporate Diplomacy in Times of Crisis – Luxembourg at Roskilde University

On 5 November, the Embassy of Luxembourg in Denmark joined the conference “Corporate Diplomacy in Times of Crisis” at Roskilde University, organized by the Research Group on Risk, Uncertainty and Opportunity (RUNOP) and the Business and Management Alumni Association.

The event gathered ambassadors from Italy, Luxembourg, Romania, Türkiye, and Croatia, alongside academics and Danish business leaders, to discuss how diplomacy and corporate engagement can navigate today’s geopolitical and economic challenges.

Key themes included the evolving role of ambassadors in a digital age, where rapid communication coexists with the need for business insight and relationship-building. Diplomacy remains central to enabling international economic cooperation and supporting companies operating across borders.

Participants highlighted Denmark’s high regulatory standards, which demand preparation and dialogue for successful market entry—areas where diplomatic representation adds value. The discussion also addressed the growing interest of the private sector in regulations and global governance, stressing that early engagement is vital for long-term strategic interests.

A strong message emerged: European cooperation is essential. “You cannot be a winning country in a losing region.” With Europe’s share of global economic influence declining, coordinated action is key to competitiveness and relevance.

The Embassy of Luxembourg values opportunities like this to foster dialogue and strengthen ties between diplomacy, academia, and business. We thank Roskilde University and all participants for their insightful contributions.
